Cryopreservation

Freezing for the future.

If there are more fertilised eggs than can be used for embryo transfer, it is possible to freeze these cells and store them in liquid nitrogen at -196°C. This procedure is also possible for sperm from ejaculate and epididymis, as well as for testicular tissue, ovarian tissue and unfertilised eggs.

These tissues are conserved in a gentle manner by means of a computer-controlled procedure (slow-freezing) or by means of a rapid freezing process (vitrification).

These frozen cells can be used for treatment both promptly and after a longer period.
